    1. Go here with a bunch of friends at 11 a.m. 2. Get yourself some amazing burrito or breakfast quesadilla at Nick's and 3. Take a seat with a few pitchers of mimosas near the bar 4. Have the time of your life wasting the day away. Worth the memories.

Nick's is about the tacos and you have to get them Nick's way. I am especially a huge fan of the fish taco. The ambiance is a little strange, but somehow it is charming in a slightly offbeat run-down divey kinda way. Also, don't come here on Tuesday, unless you are prepared for a big scene of rowdy drunkards who make Taco Tuesday their thing. If you are part of that crowd than more power to you, but it ain't my thing.

The food might not stack up to the Mexican restaurants in the Mission, but it's pretty good for Russian Hill. The guacamole is excellent, but I don't like having to pay for chips and salsa.

I have been going to Nick's for some time now. Every time I go here they turn out great Tacos! I would recommend getting your Tacos "Nicks Way" . If you like fish tacos you should try them nicks way...SO GOOD. All in all it is a fun place to go. Definitely on the higher end of the taco scale. It is among one of my favorite places to eat tacos in the City. If you are on Polk make sure you check this place out. MAKE SURE YOU BRING CASH

This is absolutely one of the best Taco shops in San Francisco. The Pollo Asado taco Nick's way is the way to go. Make sure that you call ahead of time though because sometimes it is closed and nothing is worse then getting to a restaurant and it being closed!! Also- make sure you have cash! Keep up the good work Nick's!

Recently I've only been for Taco Tuesday, but so worth it (clearly, since I keep going back). Yes the line for tacos is long, but if you're waiting with a friend then who cares. Cheap, good, and surprisingly filling tacos for $2. Chips, salsa, & guac is also $2. That mixed with some drink deals makes for a fun & cheap night. (The fish tacos are not included in the $2 deal, so I get the chicken)

  • jo jo j.

solid tacos (ive had the carne asada and fish).. good flavor, great texture on the tortilla shell (even though it is a bit oily for my liking) chips and salsa.. great texture on the chips but the salsa was bland guacamole is just average

this place is gaudy. i don't like it at night as rouge, nor do i like it in the day as nick's. i came here for taco tuesday b/c i have been looking for a new taco place since i just moved up from san diego taco tuesday is huge in san diego for those of you who don't know. $1 to $2 shrimp, fish, lobster, chicken etc. tacos, $3 margaritas at various establishments... it's heaven. nick's crispy tacos did not even come close. i was incredibly disappointed. the pico de gallo was tasteless and watery. the hot sauce wasn't even hot. tacos were expensive in general. my shrimp taco was 4.95... wtf. not coming back here.

I've been to Nick's once and really liked it. The decor is random and unique - lots of chandeliers coupled with huge TVs showing sports. The crowd was mixed and fun. The food was great though you do have to go order it separately. Definitely recommend.

Taco Tuesday! $2 tacos, quesadilla, and chips and salsa and guacamole. Great deal, and fun atmosphere. Almost a sports bar/club hybrid. I'm not sure what it wants to be, and maybe it's a teenager that hasn't fully grown up, but it's also charming and fun in the same way a teenager is.

I've been here a few times now and not once have I been disappointed. I typically don't like tacos but these tacos are really, really good. I've only had them Nick's way and will probably only stick with that. The nachos are really good too and the portion size is very generous. Man, just thinking about the food right now is making me salivate!!!! Word of advice: try to get there early, this place gets crazy packed!!! If you can make reservations, that's a definite plus!!!!

Tacos Nicks Way - it's the only way. Tortilla Soup and the salad are also favorites, but you can't go wrong with the tacos!

  • Pavknee M.

As a vegetarian, you always wonder what they can do with a taco to make it amazing...Nick's has got it down! Crispy outside, delicious and fresh ingredients on the inside, it doesn't get any better. They make taco Tuesday the best day of the week.

  • Chase R.

The best fish tacos I have ever had. Order them Nick's way with elote and some guacamole with fresh chips. I came here at least a dozen times never with more than a month in between visits. Try to stop in if you are ever in SF!

I'm a creature of habit - sort of. At least when it comes to food. But, I know what I like. I'm so ashamed. I tried to stop at one but no...two crispy fish tacos...and two beers. I actually plan flights around when Nick's stops selling tacos (9PM or so). Then I have to do the rat dance for parking. I am so envious of those who don't have cars in this town. Oh well, I feel good about myself because the Dos Equis were 2 for 5 bucks and I knew I wouldn't drink the third one (ordered #1 at the bar), so I gave it away. My good deed for the day. Nick's is great.

  • Jen C.

The crispy fish taco (pescado) is so yummy! If I lived close to Nick's, I'd swing by weekly just for a taco fix. I also had the shrimp taco (camarones). Also good but not as good as the pescado. I recommend ordering the tacos "Nick's Way", which includes guac and cheese for an extra 95 cents. My two tacos and iced tea was $11. A great cheap eatz. The ambiance is dated nightclub - red velvet booths, chandeliers, cheesy bar - but totally mellow and low hassle. Very cool place. Service was friendly. I asked for change for my meter and got it with a smile instead of a snarl. Thumbs up.

  • Andrew P.

go on a Tuesday, have a few beers, get some fried fish and chicken tacos and be happy. (only nicks way) life is easy to over think...this place keeps it simple and gets it right.

    (4)
  • Jay V.

meh, food is ok. scene is way overplayed. frat party meets food truck meets sloppy sorority girl. much rather eat my food with no swarms of douchebags. customer service is solid, scene is weak.

  • Jim B.

There is not another place I would go to to get a taco in the city. I've been on taco crawls that have spanned 10 different taco places. They were all okay. This place is the best.

    (5)
  • Edelmira D.

This is only concerning their fish tacos. Bought other food items there and I wouldn't do it again. good fish tacos. Almost like home, almost. A little bit on the expensive side and cash only : ( but I guess you can charge that when you are the only game in town and it's still cheaper than a plane ticket to SD and a drive down to Baja.

  • Brad G.

We stopped in this place on a Friday night during vacation. The tacos were decent but maybe that is the best SF has to offer. They were a little too greasy for me. However you cannot beat the drink specials on Friday nights at this place. This is definitely the spot to get your buzz on before heading out for the night.

  • Ashley H.

nicks is bomb!!! not authentic at all but still really good. i like the fish tacos nicks way. i love guac on my tacos!!!!! anything nick's way is great too. this place can be really really packed on taco tuesdays so its best to reserve a table. the line can be an hour long. the drinks are strong and they have really specials on different days. its also really nice to go on sunday and get mimosas. they used to be $5 but now they are $7. its still a great deal for bottomless alcohol. just watch out for that 8pm champagne hangover. it will get ya

  • Kane M.

How could you not love Nick's crispy tacos... the ambiance is awesome... gaudy red velvet, antiqued chandeliers and mirrors... And the food is great! Always!

  • Garrett J.

Great tacos! I love the tacos' "Nick's way." Great tacos, margies, salsa and guacamole. Extremely fresh, and yummy. I just wish it was closer to home.

    (4)
  • Gary C.

Everything has already been said, but the tacos here are amazing. Fun ambiance, reasonably priced drinks and decent happy hour. Taco Tuesday is fun but be sure to come early to get a seat. Be sure to order your tacos nicks way (adds Guac on top) and you won't be disappointed. Also - get the guac and chips to pass the time while you wait on your order (can take up to 15 minutes). On the downside, I find the margaritas to be small and rather boring. Stick with beer.

  • Derek S.

I had no idea this place was here! I have been to the night club this turns into after 10pm a few times! To say the least I was glad I came early this past weekend! When standing in line i was a bit skeptic for 3$ a taco, but i was wishing i bought three after eating the first two. I was there from about 8:30-9:30 to eat and it was packed and lined stayed long, but the cashier was very fast and friendly. The staff was quick about cleaning tables and refilling salsa. Great ambiance and good times! Tacos were great and I was not disappointed at all. Free refills for soda which is also a plus! The full bar is also real nice if your wanting anything else. The only draw back was the cash only rule. It didn't effect me personally, but I'm sure and inconvenience to people there for the first time.

  • Nish N.

The Mission rules for burritos but for the single best version of the taco you have to head up to Broadway and Polk. Nick's is always hopping, and there's plenty of seating. Order your tacos "Nick's Way" and you will be in heaven.

    (5)
  • Navid N.

Tacos are a bit too expensive. You have to do them Nick's way. They're not even worth it otherwise....

    (4)
  • Jerome C.

Some of the best tacos I've had in SF, but it's a straight [up] bro fest in this joint (I should have expected it-- it IS on Polk Street bordering the Marina after all). If you're a gay boy like me, I recommend that you go for the experience of getting tacos (to go) and not for the ambiance. It's pretty awkward realizing you're the only boy in there who has the nicest hair and shoes than the hoards of Giants jocks. Oh, how I wish this place were in the Mission!

    (3)
  • Rosalynn T.

It's not the most authentic Mexican food you'll ever have. But it's better than a lot of other places around. The food is tasty and enjoyable, just don't go around thinking that it's the real deal. Highlights- fish tacos (the fried ones) Nick's way.

    (3)
  • Diana Y.

I did not know that the infamous Nick's Crispy Tacos was in Rouge! Haha. Finally tried this place last week and the tacos were great! I had the fried fish taco and the carne asada taco, both Nick's style. I don't think I got the happy hour tacos, but it doesn't even matter. The two tacos were filling and sooo good! The combination of soft and crunchy shells, tons of guac and onions, lime, and the meat/fish were perfect! All the while, a dj was spinning some great songs (hot, current ones and bringing back some good, old ones). Surprisingly, it was better than the music I've heard here on club nights! Very curious to check out the new location...

    (5)
  • Kalie H.

Why hello yummy, vegetarian tacos! If only this place was cleaner and had better seating. I always feel like a hawk waiting for a table at this joint! Points for being cheap and close to my house, subtraction of points for having sticky floors and dirty tables...

  • Helen Z.

Nick's "Baja-Style" Pescado Taco and Pollo Taco are the way to go. I came here after hearing about how good the tacos were, and it totally lived up to its hype. I am not addicted! Its cool how the restaurant is connected to Rouge which turns into a bar/nightclub on the weekends and evenings. The only thing that kinda sucks is the super long line to order and the lack of parking around the area, which is why I knocked 1 star off. NOTE TO ALL: Nick is now at The Taco Shop @ Underdog's. I'd much prefer to go to The Taco Shop because there is more parking and its inside a sports bar so there are a bunch of TVs to entertain you while you eat.

    (4)
  • Novalina N.

Pros: The Pescado Taco here is the BOMB! Perfect crispyness, combination of guacamole, cabage, and crispy tortilla (nick's way). Cons: - Chips and salsa Chips is good and has the perfect crispyness, but it's not salty enough for me. The salsa tastes just ok as well. - Pollo taco is meh as. And it's filled with pinto beans as well, which makes it more like a burrito than a taco. If you enter thru the main entrance of Rouge, turn right and you need to follow the line to order the tacos. And if there's someone offering you to buy a drink while you're in line, they're from Rouge, not from Nick's. Don't order your $3 diet coke from them.

    (4)
  • Robert M.

Tasty tasty! Go here for great tacos and burritos at lunchtime. Super filling and yummy. Go early if you want to avoid a long line and crazy crowds because it becomes a nightclub later. I recommend a shredded chicken taco or a fish taco. Yummo!

    (4)
  • Gregory G.

Love this place! I've been coming here for years. Cheap. Delicious. And now I found out that they have bottomless mimosas on the weekends for brunch! I think for only $5! DEFINITELY get your tacos made "Nick's way". Oh, and they have super cheap prices for well drinks during happy hour. NCT is awesome. Nuff said.

  • Tiff C.

not the place to buy burritos. ill have to try tacos next time.

Decent neighborhood place to grab a beer and a taco or burrito. The ambiance is a bit odd but the food is quite good. I like the tacos "Nick's way".

    (3)
  • aaron f.

Awesome tasting food. I just try not to think about the atmosphere because I kind of hate it. PITA to get over here from my neighborhood, too. The food is so good though that it's still 5 stars.

  • Brie S.

I've only had their tacos, nachos, and rice here but overall I do enjoy the Pollo Asado Nicks Way with Guac and Sour Cream. Very tasty. Nicks is okay for what it is.. cash only but they have comedy night and other events for entertainment. The staff is very nice and the food is good.

    (3)
  • T A.

I hate to do this to ya Nick, especially so soon after my love for you just blossomed, but.. your tacos were a little leathery the last visit. It was odd. Also, my margarita was hella sour and not pleasing at all. We ended up next door at the Buccaneer just to finish enjoying cocktails because the ones here were hella weak. I must have just been super hungry the first time we came here, or maybe there were bad cooks in the kitchen last weekend. But, I tell ya, I won't be rushing back here any time soon. I really was bummed out and felt like someone punched me in the taco.

    (3)
  • Jay E.

Nicks. Oh man. This is what tacos are all about... And I'm all about tacos. I know this is short, but if you want great food and a very SF experience, I highly recommend it.

    (5)
  • Meygan N.

This place is a little overrated in my opinion. I like it for the drinks and the crowd, but the food is mediocre. It might have been my own fault for getting so hyped up on the taco because I probably built up such high expectations, it couldn't have possibly satisfy me. Come early for happy hour on Tuesdays because this place gets packed! The margaritas at Rouge (the bar associated with Nick's Crispy Tacos) are really good, but it gets difficult to order drinks when it gets busy. They do have pretty good table service (if you're able to get one), though. Also, it's cash only (bar takes credit card) so make sure to have cash on you if you want some tacos!

    (3)
  • Christine E.

Picked up a veggie burrito from Nicks tonight for dinner. Was super filling without feeling heavy. Ingredients were really fresh and healthy tasting. Will definitely be back to try more food/have drinks. Only bummer was it is cash only. Had to use their ATM and got charged $2.95 plus a fee from my bank. Ended up being like a $12 burrito. Def will have cash on me next time.

    (4)
  • J S.

One word: BAD I ordered a carne asada taco - not a bean taco. Where the hell was the meat? The pescado taco Nick's Way minus cheese was okay but I was expecting it to be like their sister location, Underdog, so I was quite disappointed. The crispy taco was not crispy at all. The only crispiness was from the fried fish. The pescado burrito was just a lot of cabbage filling with not much fish. Wouldn't recommend this if you want to be able to taste the fish. Underdog is much better. The crispy taco was actually crispy like a chip.

    (1)
  • Melissa P.

The service is always crisp, friendly and if you call your order in-in advance you can bypass the long lines at lunch time. My only criticism is NO CC! Not cool people, not cool at all. The food is consistently good.

    (4)
  • Andrew L.

This place is seriously hoppin'. I can't think of a reason to give it anything less than 5 stars, and here's why: Going to Nick's Crispy Tacos is an *experience.* You don't casually go there alone for the Tuesday special because that would be... lame. You go with friends, drink beers while you wait in the hour-long line, and then devour your $2 or ($3 fancy) tacos while you stand, smashed up against the table you squeezed into.

    (5)
  • Ryan R.

We decided to check out this place to watch the Niners game and a couple of other football games. First off, the bar/restaurant itself has an odd look to it--almost like an old-style night club. However, the place gets packed and has a cool vibe to it during football days. We grabbed a huge booth with our party and sat down and enjoyed some of their famous tacos and bottomless mimosas. Our waitress was very friendly and kept the mimosas full. She even warned us when the mimosa time was about to expire and refreshed our pitchers. Overall, this is a great spot to gather with friends to watch a football game or otherwise and enjoy some tacos and mimosas in SF.

Was there last night with Urban Diversion for Taco TUES. Great to see after all these years it's is still going strong. Solid marks across the board (scene, food, and drinks). Speaking of which, I ran into four different sets of friends. Kinda cool to find a place where all the universes collide.

  • Deal G.

Yummy! I have heard about Nick's but have been too lazy to try and go to Russian Hill. I finally bit the bullet on a Monday night and went. Ordered tacos Nick's way which is SO DARN GOOD. And to my utter surprise...it was open mike night. It was amateur stand up comedians that came up one by one and were given time limits which were enforced and it was a great Monday night for us! I have been back several times. YUM!

  • Jenn D.

Great price, maybe the best tacos of the town? And, you will simply love the gaudy decor - adds a certain something.

    (5)
  • Sara C.

Amazing pescado (fried fish) tacos, especially if you get them Nick's way (fried tortillas shell + guacamole) and add the slightly spicy green sauce that comes at the table. Any time I've ordered something other than the fish tacos, I've been a little disappointed - not because it was bad, but just because the fish tacos are so fantastic. :) Definitely worth a trip from the East Bay. I also really like the agua frescas (rotating flavors) to drink, or they have bottomless mimosas on the weekend (totally worth it!)

    (5)
  • Paul K.

Good taco's overall, the namesake crispy taco's stand out. Tried grilled chicken & carnitas, both were good. Price wise it's a little more expensive than Mission taco's but... you're far from the Mission so consider the price a transportation fee. Have to mention the venue. Nick's crispy is essentially a taco stand located in a bar. First time I went I thought I had the wrong place. Overall the atmosphere is nice. Seating is hard to come by. Alcohol & food are ordered in two separate locations.

    (4)
  • Richard M.

Nick's has gone downhill the last few months. Last couple of times I was there the tacos were a soggy mess, and the ingredients did not seem to be as fresh as they used to. Also, the counter service ranges from indifferent to rude.

    (2)
  • Isaiah W.

Went to this place for Taco Tuesday with a couple of friends! My friend was not kidding when she said this place fills up quick. We got there about 30 minutes before the place was standing room only! We ordered basically everything you can get Taco Tuesday special-wise. Carne Asada and Pollo tacos Nick's way, as well as the chips and guacamole and quesadillas with the works. A few pitchers of the margaritas didn't hurt at all either. I would definitely recommend getting there early around 5:30-6pm if you want to get there before the rush on Tuesday. Besides a tiny mixup with our order the place was great and the crowd was pretty friendly.

  • Rachel G.

Who is this Nick you speak of? Because I want to meet him and lick his face. Lick his face and then eat some carnitas off of it. Seriously, slow cooked pork makes me giddy. Not like yum-this-is-so-good-giddy. But like yum-this-is-so-good-and-I-want-to-eat-25-of- these-and-if-you-try-to-touch-even-one-of-them-I-will-literally-punch-you-in-the-ovary-giddy. The guacamole is really good too. Call me, Nick. We'll "do" lunch. And yes. We can do it your way.

  • Ajay B.

Came here for lunch on a weekend... Pretty big spot as I think they combined the business with the bar they're attached to.. large red half circle booths along one wall n plenty of tables.. place was pretty filled but not crazy, nice vibe. Tried a few things on the menu, liked all of it but the Pescado tacos were ridiculous! Somewhat soft, somewhat crispy with the layered shells, fish was lightly battered n fried perfectly.. I've been craving em ever since we came here.. unfortunately haven't found anything like this in my home state.. DEF coming back here next time I'm in SF!

Got the grilled fish burrito with whole wheat tortilla and avocado slices. From the moment the basket with the burrito hit the table until that piece of heaven was all in my stomach, I was silent, which NEVER happens. The burrito was amazing, and the service is wonderful! Will be back for sure.

There's a time and place for everything. And when your Saturday-night-turned-Sunday-afternoon hangover keeps you in bed too late for even the latest brunches, that's when you turn to Nick's. His crispy tacos will hook you up. The surreal, nightclub day after look is just enough to make you think that maybe the party isn't really over and maybe the hair of the dog isn't a bad idea either...and next thing you know you're human again. Not necessarily presentable, but ya feel all right!

Awesome. I went here with a bunch of friends and it was a totally casual, fun atmosphere. Food was great. Reasonable prices.

Finally made it up to try the breakfast burrito at Nick's this Sunday. I was itching for a fix and was slightly disappointed that this one didn't blow me away. I like the tacos here but the poor distribution of ingredients in the breakfast burrito made it not work so well. Lots of eggs were on one side while huge swaths of potatoes would dominate other bites. I got it with bacon and the crunchy bacon was good, but overall it didn't really satisfy. Will have to give it another shot some time...

  • Jill D.

While I liked my food, my friends had some issues with theirs. Of course, this could be because my friends are some indecisive motherf**ckers and so they probably just confused the staff. I enjoyed my fish taco and the chips and salsa for a buck?! GRUBBIN'! Cheap, good eats. 1 taco + 1 order of chips and salsa + 1 beer = $6.

    (4)
  • R L.

Really good crispy tacos. I had a asada and a carnitas taco. Meat has Good flavor and the beans in the taco adds a good mix. The horchata was nasty. Stick with a beer or soda. They got one taco incorrect but they fixed it with no attitude. Very fun environment. The chandeliers add a lot of character. Would highly recommend. The front sign has changed to Rouge nicks crispy taco. Couldn't find it at first. Looks more like a bar from the outside at night.

  • Brianna S.

I've been to Nick's countless times, at all times of the day, and can't find anything worth complaining about. Such a fun place to watch sports, grab casual drinks, or satisfy a taco craving. For the price point, this place is a steal. They always have great specials going on, the vibe is upbeat and fun, overall Nick's just offers up consistent good times. Don't forget to order you tacos Nick's way :)

After spending 4 years in San diego, and now living in the marina I've yet to find good cheap mexican food with identifiable meat parts. Nicks sure fits that bill if you are in the mood for tacos, I love the tacos so much I can never get myself to try a burrito yet. Get the tacos nick's way, crispy with lots of quacamole. yumm They also have good fruite quenchers and a good beer selection. I just wish they were open later, they opperate in harry denton's starlight lounge during the day. The best time to hit up nicks is during the week, lunch time. Easy to find parking and little line, but nicks sure does work wonders on the sat/ sun hangover

  • Heather C.

Long after I've moved away from San Francisco, I will still crave Nick's fish tacos. And truth be told, the decor will hold a special -- but strange -- place in my heart as well. It's a rookie move to go for the burritos -- stick with the tacos and you can't go wrong. Bonus points because they *finally* added black beans to the menu! Call ahead (409-taco) and avoid the line of hungover 20somethings craving a snack.

Nick's is great for a quick, cheap meal! If you are getting a taco definitely order it "Nick's Way" but personally I prefer the quesadillas over the tacos.

Ugh, their burritos taste like cardboard! The bar connected to it is fun, EDIT- Okay, I tried their tacos and they are YUMMY! Maybe I just went on an off day.
